We were expecting foals quite late this year, going on well into June, but Lecon Benefique (Beneficial x Lessons Lass) had other ideas and on 21st May she produced a beautiful filly foal by Kayf Tara, her first filly and a definite keeper!!

This one at 12 hours old, out in the paddock for the first time.
Centoria, our boarding mare, foaled next on 23rd May, and produced a lovely bay filly by Jack Hobbs.
2 down and one to go and on Bank Holiday Monday, 27th May, Kassis (Kalanisi x Gastina) decided she would foal down out in the field, mid morning, as it was such a nice day! She gave us a beautiful, almost black, filly by Jack Hobbs. One year to the day of the birth of her first foal by Mount Nelson!

Here she is up and about, just a few hours old.
The fillies are all doing well and growing on nicely and developing their own personalities. Here they are now at approximately one month old.

and Kassis and her Jack Hobbs Filly (named Heidi by the grandchidren)
Later in June, it was the time for the Store Sales in Ireland and Lecon Benefique's first foal by Sholokhov was entered in the Tattersalls Derby Sale Catalogue on the second day. I flew out on Wednesday 26th in the afternoon to watch him go through on the Thursday. He was finally knocked down to Oliver Sherwood, who bought him for a new owner to his yard in Lambourn. We will be eagerly following his progress on the track.
Photo below showing that the mare certainly produces 'mini me' babies!

And finally, our lovely filly Sazerak (Sinndar x Toile D'Auteuil) left us after her summer break to go into pre-training with Richard Bandey at Plantation Farm in Hampshire. She will stay with him for a month or so and then move on to Jamie Snowden's Folly House in Lambourn to start her racing career.
First day in pre-training, shoes on and starting work!

With thanks once again to Jessica Joubert for the fabulous photos
